With Cannabis being legalized in Colorado, it appears that viewpoints of the drug are changing in both the political and sports world. Check out this quote from Roger Goodell talking about the future of marijuana.
Goodell said he could envision a time when players use medical marijuana to treat pain in states where it is legal: “I don’t know what’s going to develop as far as the next opportunity for medicine to evolve and to help either deal with pain or help deal with injuries,” Goodell said, “but we will continue to support the evolution of medicine.”

While I love the NFL realizing marijuana is not a threat- I don’t think we want athletes being encouraged to smoke weed as an alternative to healing. If they do that’s totally fine but the message it sends kids could lead more kids to try the drug at an earlier stage.
Marijuana consumption is fine, but same as alcohol we don’t want to see a world of 13 year old’s smoking reefer because their favorite player smokes. With the way the injury report works, wouldn’t the fans have to know who smokes and who doesn’t in case it appears on a drug test?
