Located in Pittsburgh’s historic Strip District, The Altar Bar is a premier music venue hell-bent on resurrecting live music in the city.

It all starts with the space. Converted from the beautiful old St. Elizabeth church, The Altar Bar sprawls over three floors of open air and stunning acoustics, fit for a comfortable 650 person capacity, two full-stocked bars and a VIP lounge. It’s the perfect size for a memorable concert: enough space to draw the big names but intimate enough to actually see them.

As for those big names, they’re about as varied as they come. From artists like Snoop Dogg and Hoodie Allen, to pop newcomers like Imagine Dragons, Neon Trees, MuteMath and Grouplove, to punk classics like Misfits, Less Than Jake, Sum 41 and Anti-Flag, The Altar Bar plays host to some of the most unique, compelling and ballsy acts in the whole city.

The idea is that a great live show is a great live show, regardless of the performer’s money, popularity or lack thereof. Sometimes a great live show isn’t just your favorite band playing your favorite song; sometimes it’s seeing some unknown opener bring the house down without so much as a Facebook page to their name.

At The Altar Bar, you get the best of both under one roof. Whether a local band on the rise or a sold out marquis act, The Altar Bar’s state-of-the-art sound and top shelf lighting guarantees you’re seeing and hearing them at their absolute best. All you have to do is get here.

In five short years, The Altar Bar has established itself as a vital touchpoint for live music in Pittsburgh and it happened simply because The Altar Bar is committed to bringing something fresh to the fans who want it.
