Looking to enjoy a nice carousel ride today for National Carousel Day (July 25th) here in the Burgh? Well you’re in luck, there are right here in Pittsburgh!! One in Oakland and another in West Mifflin! Don’t worry they won’t break the bank either. Did you know that this fun ride was originally used to teach soldiers how to fight in battle? The carousel is far from being a training ride, now it’s just brings smiles and happiness to people of all ages.
Looking to ride a two story carousel? Well you’re in luck, there is one at the Century III Mall in West Mifflin! The 36ft carousel has many different animals to ride, some that go up and down, some that stay in place and even benches. This carousel is great for every age. The carousel is open during mall hours, today (Saturday) they will be open from 10am – 9pm. The carousel is free for children under two, parents ride free with the child. Not in the West Mifflin area? No problem, head over to Oakland to visit The PNC Carousel Schenley Plaza. The original carousel opened in 1913. They carousel is well maintained and still has some of the original animals, for a full list of animals & their sponsor please click here. They are open from 10am-6pm this season, but make sure if you want to keep riding you go before it closes October 8th. The carousel does take tokens, which can be purchased at the machine right outside the carousel. Tokens are $1.25 and only one is needed to ride.
